A proper diet is not enough, it must be accompanied by right thinking and a healthy lifestyle. Ayurveda does not adhere to the Western idea of "you are what you eat"; rather, it focuses on "you are what you digest." In Ayurveda, health is a result of how well we digest not just our food, but also our perceptions, emotions, and environmental factors through different seasons and stages of life.
